Taking the Lou Back In Time
So, you’ve decorated the rest of your home to look like a rustic getaway, but when someone goes into the bathroom, it’s a modern day restroom that detracts from the rest of the old-world atmosphere. Time for a little more decorating.
How do you create a rustic or cabin bathroom? Well, there’s no need to put an outhouse out back. Instead, you can accent your bathroom with rustic bathroom accessories that match the country décor of the rest of your home.
Some of these fixes are easy; some take a little more work. Let’s start by getting the tough ones out of the way.
Let’s look at the vanity. Is it telling a story of life in the wilderness or that it came from a local home improvement store? Thankfully, there are a number of rustic bathroom vanities on the market, made from log (for a log home bathroom), oak or pine, including some made with plenty of under counter space to keep all your cleaning supplies and towels out of view. You can even purchase other rustic shelving and cabinet options if you need more storage space. If you don’t need that space, you could opt for the quainter vessel sink.
Now the easier fixes.
You can easily change the look of the shower area with one of many rustic shower curtains on the market. They come with designs including pinecones, moose, various country patterns, and even Old West patterns. When searching through rustic bathroom acessories, you can even find shower hooks depicting wilderness animals to hold the curtain in place. The benefit of a well themed cabin shower curtain is as long as you keep it closed, no one needs to see that the shower may be a little more modern looking than the rest of the room.
On the floor, how about changing out the rugs you have for rustic bathroom rugs? They are available in everything from woodlands themes to hunting and Native American themes.
Now for the details. Accessories can make or break the look you’re trying to create. Be sure that you purchase a rustic toilet paper holder, tissue box cover, soap dishes, toilet brush holder and a long line of other rustic bathroom accessories that match or complement the look you’re trying to create.
